It’s why I say that capitalism is more comfortable with advanced authoritarian systems not opposed to capitalism than democracy. It’s why companies move jobs to places like China. They know they’ll the equivalent of slave labour. They know the government will help them maintain that slave labour system. They know slave labour is good for the bottom line and they know graft is cheaper than taxes.

As my favourite writer puts it: Capitalism was content under Hitler, happy under Mussolini, very happy under Franco and delirious under General Pinochet.

What writer is that? It’s a good quote. I think there’s a mindset that exists that think Capitalism always equal democracy but it’s as you say not always the case.
