Alton Brown was on my radio last week (maybe he has a book out, I dunno) But he was explaining that teaching kids to cook is a good way for them to learn math and science while having a good time. (which is true). I love Alton.
I reverse that. I love Alton because he explains the science of what you are doing, which makes it much clearer to me.
Some recipes, it’s like you don’t know if you need to do this, or if it’s stage directions for Macbeth.
And then comes Alton Brown, and says, “Look, this is the chemical reaction you need to make the thing go fluffy. Let me show you what this looks like and how it works.”
