However, the executive branch can put “pressure” on the prosecutor, who is probably a mid-level officer (instant death to promotion type pressure).
That, though, would be a very stupid thing to do.

He’s a full colonel. He’s probably not going to get promoted, anyway. Very few general officers in the JAG Corps.

It really won’t have any effect on his career. Officers in the special branches are insulated from the chain of command for just this reason.
