Thank you both for responding to my frivolous interruption of a serious discussion on the state of politics.
Candidly, I fear that what the erosion of our public discourse, and the lack of respect for the opposition, is not what is fundamentally wrong with the national polity. What is fundamentally wrong is that there is no national idea that now binds the nation as a nation. The post-national zeitgeist emanates from the left and is choking all.
But I must go. There is a Person from Porlock at the door…
There will be another opportunity I hope, for me to air my pessism.
