If Rep. Weiner comes completely clean with respect to what he did, this will within a fairly short period of time, other than the braying of Brietbart - who really should be focusing more on his upcoming defamation lawsuit - be no more than a political footnote. There has been nothing illegal that has taken place. Weiner’s actions, outside of flirtatious texting and suggestive (but not obscene) pictures, doesn’t even measure against the marital infidelity of the Ensigns, Vitters, Schwarzeneggers, or Edwards of recent times.
The saddest part about all this? Because of Weiner’s loss of credibility, the completely credible case that he’s made against Clarence Thomas’ blatant conflicts of interest are likely going to be moved to the back burner, if not completely taken off the table for the forseeable future.
