Because that’s not really a security related comment. If a terrorist has gone through the trouble of getting a bomb onto a plane he/she would a) already know where the engine is and b) not be stupid enough to talk out loud about it
If it were me who overheard the comment I wouldn’t have reported anything. Just my two cents.

Also, taking the entire family on the plane with you isn’t an established M.O. for suicide bombers.
