I don’t feel like this really answered my question, because everything you say about the consequences of failing to put out a cigarette could also be said about a cop demanding a strip search or blow job. In the end, you are advocating that, at least for a cigarette, you think that it’s not worth it for most people to challenge the police’s authority. That is the end result of your words and indeed, what you say you would do yourself.

I’m asking at what point do you consider it worth challenging the police’s authority, knowing the potential consequences? What rights are important enough to you that even knowing it might be a psycho cop who doesn’t give a shit about your PBA card, you would stand up for?
