It’s not just the Spiegel, btw. Pretty much the whole German press. If and when they are paying attention.

The Germans are pretty aware that any sort of economic meltdown in the US will take them and the rest of the world with it. We’re still the elephant in the room in that regard. And there is little hope of a meaningful recovery in Europe regardless of what they do with the spectre of a US messing things up further looming to the west.
