It’s almost hopeless at this point (comment #624 with another thread started), but isn’t this something like “be careful what you ask for”? How is the UAW going to make GM profitable enough to support the UAW — unless it’s willing to screw the UAW, that is? I just see the UAW as killing the goose that lays the golden egg and becoming a giant pension fund that dries up as its members age and die.
