re: #634 SixDegrees

I don’t think it’s quite that extreme. However, a lousy economy does help the Administration get some of it’s pet projects passed. National health care gets a lot more support when lots of people are out of work and lots more are worried about losing their jobs. And don’t worry - we’ll make the “rich” pay for it, with an ever-declining threshold for where “rich” begins. I don’t expect the Administration to do anything to fire up the economy before October, after the various health care bills are passed or dead.

It’s not so much that he’s actively seeking to ruin things. Just that he’s taking advantage of the fear and uncertainty the current climate creates, and isn’t going to so anything to change it because doing so will work against his purposes.

And economic rebound isn’t going to help the Democrats much if it happens now, either. It would be better for those involved in midterm elections if things began to rebound around the first of the year, so by November any recovery will be well under way and the Dems can take credit for it.

I think that is rose colored view. It would be nice if it was true as that would mean that my IRA’s might recover before they disappeared.
In my view it is malice or ignorance. If it isn’t malice then he’s stupid enough not to realize that if they pass cap and tax and the medical nightmare it will destroy us
