Not really. Ohio has a pretty good history of Democratic Senators at the same time as a Republican in the other seat. Remember John Glenn and Howard Metzenbaum.
Yes, really. Irrespective of the electoral fate of Sen. Portman, if Gov. Kaisch gets to appoint a replacement for Sherrod Brown, that replacement would be a Republican. It’s a pure numbers game in terms of who controls the Senate.
