Money on the barrelhead: if this gets through, it’ll be private prison facilities that will be paid to manage those kids and set up proper detention for them.

PPCs have been super excited about immigration issues for years, because it’s a place to expand their skillset (of farming profit off prisoners). Shit like this is why they’re so excited, and their stock is bumping up.

Mind you, this is possibly another case of the admin floating a terrible idea to see what reactions it gets, before pulling back and doing something that’s still awful, but not as dramatic.
