One of the best rules for formulas is:

“Cross multiply and divide.”

Take 1/x = 3/4
That would be (1 x 4)/3 or x = 4/3

Related being: “Whatever you do to one side, you do to the other.”

(x) 1.12 = 978

Left side would be x/1.12 resulting in x
Right side would be 978/1.12
Resulting in x = 978/1.12 or 873.214
