re: #649 LudwigVanQuixote

I will treat that as a serious question and respond seriously.

Truthfully, as I have written many times here…

We need to:

1. Switch over to primary nuclear energy, supplemented by solar and wind.

2. Deploy higher energy density batteries - which have been developed and switch to electric vehicles.

3. Update the power grid.

4. Use carrot and stick with INdia and China to get more green. We help them develop green industry - which by replacing oil and coal would be worth billions each year anyway and create millions of jobs world wide, while stopping many of the ills of the ME and Africa, or w tarrif the hell out of them and refuse to buy their sweat shop crap.

5. Recycle more.

See, and those are all perfectly reasonable, perfectly sound ways to go. You can push these things without even having to get the folk who don’t know the science of AGW to agree to that it’s happening. Hell, you wouldn;t even need to drag the science into the thing at all:

1) “Look, do you wanna keep sending your money to a buncha folk who want us dead (oil)?

2) “Lookit, if we get them coastal yuppie types to all switch over and use these cars. that’s more fuel for NASCAR”

3) “I don’t know about you, but I’d sure like it if the lights stayed on when there was a storm, or when a powerline fell down.”

4) “But American! and make those guys play by our rules.”

5) “Who! Don’t put that in there. Every beer can’s worth about a nickel.”

And not a word about billions dying, not a word about listening to your betters.
