Did Eisenhower storm the Normandy beaches in the first wave?
Would that have been a good idea?

It would have been a horrible idea for the guy in overall command to go ashore.

That said to be fair

General Theodore Roosevelt, Jr went ashore with the first wave at Utah, resulting in the famous “We’ll start the war from right here!” and capturing the Beach section he decided to have us land at with only around 200 casualties.

Granted this just goes to show that the Roosevelt family is awesome from start to finish, but I mainly brought it up because of just how awesome /interesting it is…
