Just got back from the Imperial Palace grounds in Tokyo. There were three massive trucks circling the grounds. The first had the Imperial symbol and said: “Emperor, please save the world—a global revolution is coming.” The second had the American flag and said “President Trump will help save the world; he is part of the global revolution.” And, surprisingly, the third one had the Russian flag and said “President Putin will help save the world; he is part of the global revolution.” Ultra-rightists constantly drive around in trucks with loud speakers, but I had never seen this. And just the other day an ultra-conservative member of the Diet said that a war with Russia may be necessary to reclaim northern islands lost to USSR after WWII. He was roundly criticized due to the Constitutional article (9) that prohibits Japan from engaging in offensive war measures.
