Not one person can explain how it got *into* the lab in the first place.

Unless you’re assuming it was a bioweapon…. which is verging on impossible based on all the evidence. So, it was identified in the wild, brought into the lab to study, and then escaped?

Because that’d be the series of events there. It was in the wild. It was isolated in a lab. It was only a matter of time before it hit human populations and spread, which is exactly what it did.
