Its amazing. About 1 person in 10 seems to know about the “Federalist Papers” I doubt 1 in 1000 know about the “Anti-Federalist Papers” Not quite as coherent an effort since they were done separately rather than in a tag time like the Federalist Papers, but actually quite important. It’s a never ending source of unhappiness for me: I try to link a current event to what I think will be a well-known historical event only to meet with an awkward silence. Whereupon I realize I’m the only person in the room who actually knows much about history. After that I usually end up explaining the event in question while Santayana’s observation runs through my head. The bright spot is that about every 8th time this happens, I actually motivate someone to research the event in question.
