Addendum - dictum on spending:

If the spending is in your district, it’s to meet a vital community need and essential for economic development, social programs, and/or key infrastructure development.

When it is someone else’s district, it’s porkbarrel spending at its worst.

Such is the way of Congress doling out money for projects and this class of politicians is learning that lesson. You don’t get reelected unless you bring home the bacon even as you’re complaining about everyone else’s bacon. Shared sacrifice is unheard of when you need to show results.
