I used to make them all the time as a kid. I made an atlatl too; that ruled. I could throw railroad spikes through an inch of plywood with that.

Our Anthro dept had an annual picnic with atl-atl competition as part of the ‘Mr/Mrs Pleistocene’ title. Buddy was DQ’ed for hot-glueing his flint point to the shaft.
