Indeed. It was a very poor choice of words. There are indeed times when some of Mao’s saying or tactics have utility. But before you mention them, you need to qualify them and make sure you remind people of how evil Mao was and make clear that you do not seek his brutal ends nor will you descend to his worse means. Anita Dunn failed to do that, and in so doing handed Glen Beck the club with which to beat her.
