re: #38 Shiplord Kirel

Oh, there was luck involved in the captured, but not the way Rush wants people to believe.

We were lucky that Shahzad: 1) doesn’t know how to build a bomb that actually detonated (which would have made the effort to gather evidence more difficult); 2) didn’t know that VIN numbers are located all over the vehicle, not just in the window well; 3) didn’t know that his cellphone and email were being tracked back to the source; 4) didn’t know that the feds were able to add him to a no-fly list; etc.

Law enforcement caught several breaks, but there was also luck that was made, because they were able to tie together various strings of evidence to link back to Shahzad and did so in short order.

However, everything I’ve seen shows that despite being put on the no-fly list, the airline didn’t check that list until after he was boarded, but even though that event occurred, the plane wasn’t going anywhere because a final check found he had been on the list and was removed. The plane was cleared to disembark but after conversations with Shahzad, the plane was called back to gate to have two other people questioned and bags rescreened.
