There’s always been a problem with defining what victory there would be and how we could measure it.

The culture of that country is backward and very much ingrained. I suppose that is sadly typical of many nations in that region. I agreed with Obama upping the ante there, but the russians tried straight up brutality and it didn’t subdue the country. We tried something more surgical and humane, but the locals seem unwilling to embrace us either. So what is left?
