People need to reread their Adam Smith. The markets are to serve the people, not the the people to serve the markets.

It is the effects of any financial system that are important, the output, not the elegance of its design or the ideological underpinnings of its working. That way lies disaster, every time, whether it’s communism or free-marketeerism.
