CRA played its part in the mortgage bubble breaking. It was a part of adding many unqualified buyers to the market, therefore artificially inflating prices homes with loans on unwise terms.

The end result backs my points, if certainly not some of the Republican hyperbole out there.

There is a lot of “many” and “part” in there that isn’t quantified in the slightest.

The fact that a) independent mortgage companies also did sub and Alt lending, and b) those IMC’s didn’t have CRA oversight, and c) those IMC loans did worse tells a different story to me. We’ll prob. have to agree to disagree on this one…
