Ford’s honestly the last GOPer for President I could see myself voting for. I like Carter but in some ways he’s too religious for me but OTOH I have no idea how I would have felt about the Nixon pardon but Ford was one of the good ones. The GOP would have been better off going in his direction rather than embracing Reagan. Ford had so much more integrity than Reagan.

Carter is a religious man, but he doesn’t require others to ahere to his religious beliefs.

This is probably best emplified by the people who worked with him in the White House. Hamilton Jordan and Jody Powell were probably the most public examples of Carter’s secularism.

There was no religious test to be part of the Carter team.
