I went to segregated schools (for my first two years) until my mother found out about the system and said “hell no” and moved us north. The voting age dropped before I turned eighteen, but that meant I was able to vote in the 1980 election against Ronald Reagan.

(Considering every person I voted for lost - I did not have the franchise during Obama’s administration because I was homeless - perhaps I shouldn’t vote. I appear to be a jinx.)
