Hell, if you take the time to dig through the archives here, you’ll find that I used to be one of those with his head firmly planted up backside when it came to Bush and the Right. In a way, Charles and I both sort of went through the same transformations, first being “mugged” by 9/11 into signing into a lot of the anti-Islam BS for awhile, then a reevaluation after seeing some of the noxious shit coming out of the Right in the wake of ‘08. I voted for Bush in ‘04 because I honestly thought he was taking the “War on Terror” seriously, and in retrospect I don’t regret that vote. Because you’re right, Bush is like his old man and Reagan in that they are far more moderate, level-headed men than the loonies who claim to be “Republicans” now.
