re: #690 Obdicut

What’s the difference, though, really? To me, the former is just an extension of the latter. After all, without a religious component, what really does it matter if we use the recently dead? Why shouldn’t we simply harvest the organs of every dead person?

I mean, I personally, being an atheist and extreme pragmatist, wish that we did, that we had a culture in which every dead person’s organs were used to help others. I think that’d be fantastic, and I wish we had a culture that celebrated that and was proud of that, instead of the one we have with what is, to me, a very creepy attitude towards dead bodies.

But we don’t. We have a culture where dead bodies are treated with reverence and as though, somehow, the dead person is somehow attached to them. I don’t see why the “N” number of years passing changes that from a cultural thing to a purely religious one.

I worship the Individual Blade of Grass *I call* George. I am the sole member of the church of IBS.

I know he exists, but I’ve never seen him.

I want all landscaping services to suspend operation. All lawn mowers to be dismanted and manufacturers of such to cease and desist.

NO one should interefere with my belief.
