Rather, there is something else that is bugging me. I’ve already given a couple of criticisms of Zombie’s latest post… no need to reiterate that here. Yet, I feel a bit uneasy with how many people here not only accepted Zombie’s entry uncritically (that is, without any questions) but also how many people (especially on other blog sites) have simply used it as a springboard for strangeness. (To Charles’ credit, his own comment when posting the link correctly cast the original material (by Holdren) into the proper context of an academic discussion over possible future scenarios.)

I often, and will continue to, put up spin-off links that may otherwise not be posted by the majority of lizards. Some get few clicks, a few get many clicks. Hopefully by reading other opinions someone will find a benefit.

Agree with you, both on the criticisms of Zombie’s latest and on the increasingly strange uses to which it is being put elsewhere in the blogosphere (which Kilgore foresaw, if I remember correctly).

I’d say post the link, because there are always some who will read it and hopefully find a benefit. There are always people on both sides who don’t want to encounter something that shakes a dearly held belief, but I think the majority of people here are willing to at least look at opposing views on most subjects. Just my opinion, of course.
