Its 17 degrees outside… we had 10 inches of snow last night… and the roads are a solid sheet of ice. So, guess what happened 45 minutes ago?

My heat went out!

I have hot water baseboard heat, and the pump which sends that beautiful warm water into my apartment decided to give up the ghost.

I had to drive over to my sister’s place (luckily, only about a mile away) and borrow a couple of space heaters.

Why do these things only happen at night… or on weekends? How do major appliances know the day and the time?
