re: #62 Bagua

Energy riots, essentially non-political, broke out spontaneously when the Government raised tariffs for water and gas. Electricity was already up over 100 percent, central heating up over 500 percent. This has been simmering for weeks and finally boiled over.

What pissed them off was the prices were driven up by fiat, rather than a market move, though what the Government did was remove subsidies that were resulting in the energy being sold at less than the cost to produce it.

And we’ve got Russia stirring the pot, too. They want to get Kyrgyzstan to close Manas so they can monopolize our shipping into Afghanistan. Classic Russian power play.
