The point was your “we” baloney. Ahmadinejad is the president of Iran. Santorum is just a former senator, not the president, and not “we”.

Think back to 2002. Bush never said that he wanted to attack Iraq. But the slowly but surely the the atmosphere was created that this was the only solution. People who tried to point out that this might not be a great idea were marginalized, and groupthink took over.

I see the same situation happening again. where politicians just use Iran as a strawman to knock down and no one has the courage to take a different view, or try to determine our best interests beyond winning another election.
