Guess what folks. Just about everyone of my generation took advantage of the deferments when we could. Fact.

It was a bad war. Most of us knew it. Period.

There are no political points to be made. Bill Clinton would agree.

You mean whoever was college bound or well connected too advantage of the deferments. Those that were either high school graduates or drop outs were left with no option other than to become draft dodgers.

So the impoverished were left with the stigma of being called draft dodgers while the well connected and college bound were simply given the pleasant status of deferral.
