Here is a fun experiment to try with your friends. Get a clear Pyrex measuring cup. Put a couple ice cubes in it. Fill it with water up to the 1-cup level. Cover with cling wrap to preclude evaporation. Let the ice cubs melt.

Observe what happened to the water level. Then make your eco-hippy friends explain why. Extrapolate that to melting ice caps and rising sea levels.

Then tell them to fuck off.
