re: #61 A Mom Anon

Oh seriously just fuck these people. If you can’t live on a couple of million dollars, comfortably, for many years, you have problems money can’t fix. If I had just one million dollars(and trust me, I have thought about this a lot- even budgeted it on paper), I could be out of debt, put both of my kids into trade schools, get my son some extra help with his autism, put some money aside for my grandkids, travel a little with my husband(just to see a few National Parks before I die), and STILL have money left over, AND be freaking HAPPY about it. Oh boo hoo, you don’t have 5 million dollars, just one or two million… STFU.

I was listening to the news this morning on the car radio. EIGHTY percent of adults in America will struggle with poverty and unemployment in their lifetimes. Many of those will never recover, and many of them find themselves in that position because of an accident or illness that even those with insurance find they aren’t covered for. I’d like to see some time and energy and freaking studies done on that. There’s really no excuse for AMERICA! FUCK YEAH! to have this happening. It’s bullshit.

Well, if you ever wanted to fire direct questions at someone in that demographic — shoot. I’m worth about about 1.7 M and do not feel that I’m “rich” in the sense of the BMW and Benz crowd.

Too much middle class upbringing, not feeling I need to own or acquire status items, and knowing that a catastrophic event could strip it all away. Flip side, I am relatively de-stressed since I know I can walk away from my job if I had to. I have a financial nest egg set aside for retirement. I have some ability to travel and go do things. AND, I do have a chance to handle or ride out events that would leave other totally screwed.
