Odds are that the Iranians are going to claim that the US boats (and I’m figuring that they’re small water craft, like dingys or semi rigid small boats) were somehow in Iranian waters, while the US would claim that they were international waters. With the Persian Gulf being as narrow as it is - especially in the Strait of Hormuz, it’s conceivable that the Navy could say that they were in international waters while the Iranians say otherwise, all over the difference of a few yards.

No doubt the GOP will expect the worst, and deliver the worst based on this news.
