When Jimmy Carter was just a doddering old guy who built Habitat for Humanity houses, I respected him.

Then when he first started monitoring elections, I respected him.

But when he revealed that he favored the most totalitarian side in every election he monitored, I not only lost all respect for him —I realized that he had always felt this way, and I had been blind.

I have a sneaking hunch that Jimmy’s trying to prove something to himself. I suspect he’s trying (desperately) to build a legacy — knowing, at least at a subconscious level, that his Presidency will be panned in the history books.

Maybe I’m over-thinking it, but that would explain the pathetic idiocy.
