I refuse to be outraged over the BP PR machine. They are doing what any other company’s PR unit would do in this situation.

Of course they are.
I personally find it very interesting though, that they aren’t playing any ads here.

Probably for good reason. If folks here saw this ad:

Oh they’re playing here in CA. Local LA guy who’s in charge of the claims, saying he’ll do everything possible.

we’d know it ain’t exactly spot on. BP has been very slow to pay those claims, is paying pennies on the dollar, and has agreed several times to cooperate with local officials on these claims, except they never actually get around to the actual cooperating part.
