I tried to like them. I really did. For no other reason than so many people raved about them, I figured there must be something there.
But I just never could find even a single song I could like.

To me they are White Zinfandel. Once the rave for those who rarely drank wine ( like me) I tried and tried it but I never developed a taste for it but instead jumped straight to real wine which I really enjoyed.

Ha. That’s pretty good. I like the comparison to Zinfandel. That’s exactly what I thought of them before I gave them a chance. Sort of a vanilla band in the mode of someone like Weezer or something. But when I really started to listen to them over and over with headphones I could hear the talent of Chris Martin. When I really started to listen to Coldplay I was reminded of 1981 when I first heard U2 and wondered how this music was conceived and who these guys were. And perhaps Coldplay is a throwback to early U2 and maybe that’s what appeals to me. They don’t sound like U2 but there is something there that rocks my boat, so to speak.
