I think the key point is that Trump openly gives encouragement for the haters and bigots in the GOP to indulge in their vileness.

Imagine a bigot who has lived much of his or her adult life in a world where such things aren’t acceptable in public. Even Republicans resorted to dog-whistle appeals instead of overt white supremacism. The Bell Curve was too long and wonky to satisfy the base.

Trump dispenses with the dog-whistles. No wonder Trump’s fans love him, and could not possibly care less about Trump’s random insanity on all issues.

He is the new Lincoln, and has freed them from the plantation of Political Correctness.
