There’s a weird dynamic wingnuts have with the government. They preport to hate the government and claim they need arsenals to protect themselves against said government but they also want the government to get rid of those they deem undesirables. There definitely is fascism in American conservative thought that I honestly did not see before Trump’s rise. I mean I’ve never thought much of American conservatism in general but Trump awoke something really ugly.

They’ve been at it all my adult life (which is why I have never voted for a Republican since I was old enough to vote in the Seventies). I saw it when I was five in a Jim Crow segregated school in kindergarten and first grade, until my mother got me the heck out of Dixie.

It once wasn’t Republicans, it was conservatives. The two are synonymous now.a
