I see the wingnuts are running around in frantic circles again, about a 1990 interview with Obama in which he says, “Hopefully, more and more people will begin to feel their story is somehow part of this larger story of how we’re going to reshape America in a way that is less mean-spirited and more generous.”

For the life of me, I can’t figure out why that’s supposed to be so disgusting and outrageous. Is it because Obama suggested America was not perfect in every way just as it was?

How does that make sense? How screwed up does your thinking have to be when a simple, positive statement about making things better is cause for hateful ranting?
