I mean compared to Europe and South America, you can expect to speak the same language in the same fast food places in the majority of the country.

It was either Emmmie or ggt who brought this up a few days ago, but I thought it was a good point: unlike Europe or S. America (well, barring Brazil) we can go 1000 miles and still be in the same country, let alone speak the same language or expect the same customs. Not so in Europe or other continents.
