Thanks all for the Microsoft vs. OpenOffice help with my new (used) laptop. I went with OpenOffice and AVG anti-v and Firefox. Open source, baby! It turns out I was the second-hand beneficiary of a Govt. Program, finally. This high school kid took a “green jobs, technology for MI” class this summer and got a free laptop which he barely used and then his unemployed mom sold it. 2Gb RAM, 160Gb drive, integrated wireless, 15.6” screen and a new case all for $250.
