I’m not sure there’s “one true libertarian” view on most issues. There are some who favor open borders (if you’re looking for a sound bite position that’s probably where I fall on immigration), there are some who take the position you state, and probably 20 other positions. Getting libertarians to agree isn’t the easiest thing in the world.

I think that’s why they’ll never be a successful party. I actually know a lot of libertarians. My alma mater was full of em. Another problem I observed during the Va governor’s race was that while they ran a candidate for governor, they didn’t bother running one for Lt Governor or AG. Libertarians want to be a major party but they don’t want to do the work that is required to become a major party in my observations since they’re too busy arguing about who is more purer than thou.
