Guy on Twitter trying to argue with me that getting rid of federal student loans and Pell Grants is a great idea…..

Doesn’t realize that without student loans, college will return to being an aristocracy, where only the rich and smartest get education while the “normals” have to settle for manual labor.

And he doesn’t realize that without federal loan money coming in, colleges will have to raise their tuition drastically to cover costs (thus making it even more of an aristocracy) and/or cut out a huge portion of their research. Making education in this country even worse, at a time when we’re falling behind the rest of the world.
