But his saying “It was my call, if mistakes happened, they are my responsibility and my fault.” isn’t far fetched - the fact is HE IS THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF and bears the responsibility when things screw up (see, again, Bill Clinton and Black Hawk Down) whether he wants to or not. The EASY call for Obama would have been to let the pirates get to Somalia and say “There’s nothing I can do about it; we never had a realistic chance of saving Captain Phillips on the high seas and now he’s in a country where 240 some odd hostages from OTHER NATIONS are also being held, what can we do except appeal to the UN?”
I think that was a tough call for Obama to make and I’m glad he made it. Maybe he’ll be more likely to use military force, when appropriate, now that he’s seen how well it can work out when he let’s the Military do their thing.
