Good point. But I think that is exactly why the Framers excluded the Senate elections from the general population.

You’re right in that they did not trust the electorate, e.g. property owners only vote etc.
Smart as they were they were wrong about that, at least today.
You have to trust the electorate, otherwise government becomes automatically illegitimate and subject to serious turmoil. At least from my perspective.
