His response to Germany’s Ardennes in 1944 offensive was an outstanding feat of arms.
He was lucky to get involved in armored warfare before WWII at a time when it became the dominating factor on the battlefield, and on top of it all he just makes an interesting historical figure, especially in a country that likes and embraces idiosyncratic individualists.
